Zur gleichen Zeit stellte Liz fest, dass sie noch nichts zu essen in der Wohnung hatte. Sie würde sich später unterwegs etwas kaufen. Etwas, was ungekühlt nicht schlecht wurde. Schließlich hatte sie auch keinen Kühlschrank. Aber sie benötigte sowieso nicht viel, da sie schon Morgen wieder im Krankenhaus sein musste.
Die junge Frau fuhr sich durch das Haar. Sie fühlte sich, als hätte sie gar nicht geschlafen, die Schmerzen in ihrem Arm waren auch nicht rückläufig.

Er wusste nicht, ob sie sich für den Rollstuhl oder das Laufen mit Hilfe der Gehbank entschieden hatte; wahrscheinlich musste sie zuerst selbst ausprobieren, wozu sie im Stande war.

"Einverstanden", nickte er und klopfte dann an die Tür. Während Isobel ins Bad ging, wartete er auf eine Antwort von Jack, doch sie blieb aus. So drückte er den Türdrücker herunter, doch es war noch immer abgeschlossen.
"Jack, mach auf. Bitte", kam es von ihm. Der junge Mann sagte noch immer nichts. "Ist alles okay bei dir? Sag bitte irgendwas, damit ich die Tür nicht aufbrechen muss." - "Geh weg", kam es nur von ihm zurück.
Da er so zumindest wusste, dass er nicht bewusstlos in irgendeiner Ecke lag, ginf er in die Küche, um dort auf seine Freundin zu warten.
