Im Krankenhaus machte die Nachtschwester ihre erste Runde; da Liz schlief, warf sie nur einen kurzen Blick ins Zimmer der jungen Frau.
Zudem waren die Werte, die der Überwachungsmonitor zeigte, ganz akzeptabel. Sogar ihr Sauerstoff lag bei über 95 Prozent, obwohl sie keinen mehr über die Sonde erhielt. Einzig und allein an ihrem viel zu schnellen, arrhythmischen Pulsschlag konnte man im Moment erkennen, dass etwas mit ihr nicht ganz in Ordnung war.

Irgendwann schlief Isobel schließlich doch ein. Sie war, wie sie schon gesagt hatte, wirklich sehr erschöpft.

Auch Chase und Remy schliefen in dieser Nacht besser als sonst. Nur durch das regelmäßige Umlagern waren sie hin umd wieder wach.

Isobel wurde am nächsten Morgen schon früh wach. Die Schmerzen hatten sie geweckt.

Isobel machte das, was sie in solchen Situationen immer tat. Sie vertiefte sich in ihre Gedanken. Schon bald war sie so wieder in ihrem Heimatsdorf.

Liz hatte eigentlich keinen großen Hunger, aber die Ärztin würde das nur wieder als Anlass sehen, ihr zu sagen, dass sie mit jemanden reden müsse. Da sie nun wirklich keine Lust darauf hatte, bemühte sie sich so viel wie möglich zu essen.
