Endlich hatte Kaminski es dann geschafft und die Bandage geschlossen. Er legte sich zurück und schloß seine Augen:"Wie gesagt, ich bin müde!"

Sie beugte sich über ihn und küsste ihn. "Schlaf gut." Dann schaltete sie das Licht aus und kuschelte sich neben ihn in die Decke. Sie war nicht eingeschnappt oder dergleichen, sie sah nur, dass er jetzt einfach seine Ruhe brauchte, was auch immer ihm durch den Kopf ging.

Er war froh, dass sie ihn zu verstehen schien und war bald wieder ganz in seinen Gedanken versunken.

Nach einer Weile sah er auf Elena um zu sehen, ob es ihr gut ging. Wenn er so in Gedanken war, war er nicht selten völlig abwesend, was äußerliche Reize betraf.
Kaminski sah, dass sie bereits schlief und lauschte ihrem Atem. Ohne es zunächst zu merken, glich er seinem Atem, ihren an. Erst nach einer Weile fiel ihm dies auf und er begann sich darauf zu konzentrieren. Nach einer Weile schlief er dabei schließlich ein.

Elenas Schlaf blieb ruhig. Ihn neben ihr zu spüren, ließ sie seit den letzten Wochen so gut schlafen, wie sie es schon lange nicht mehr konnte. Es gab verschiedene Arten von Menschen: Die einen schliefen besser, wenn sie allein waren, die anderen, wenn jemand neben ihnen lag. Sie gehörte definitiv der zweiten Gruppe an.
