Chase drehte schließlich um und legte sich wieder auf das Sofa. Er hätte damit rechnen können, dass sie ihm zwar vertraute, aber dennoch Angst hatte, wenn sie schlief. Schließlich hatten sie noch nie eine Nacht in der gleichen Wohnung verbracht. Als er wieder lag, schlief er fast augenblicklich wieder ein.

Amy hatte sich ihren Wecker so gestellt, dass sie vor ihm wach wurde. Sie stand auf, ging kurz ins Bad und anschließend in die Küche, wo sie für ihn und sich Frühstück zubereitete.

Chase wurde nicht von seinem Wecker wach, sondern durch Amy, die in der Küche hantierte. So schaltete er den Handywecker ab und lehnte sich in den Durchgang zur Küche. "Guten Morgen", flüsterte er, um sie nicht zu erschrecken.

Er nickte. "Ja, tut mir leid, dass ich eingeschlafen bin", meinte er dann und sah sie an. "Ich hoffe, du konntest schlafen... obwohl ich hier war", spielte er vorsichtig auf die abgeschlossene Tür an.

Er bedankte sich für das Brot und schüttelte den Kopf. "Es muss dir nicht leid tun. Sag mir nur... gebe ich dir Grund, Angst vor mir zu haben. Was ich vielleicht gar nicht merke. Denn dann will ich daran unbedingt etwas ändern." Er pausierte kurz und erklärte dann leise: "Ich wollte zu dir und war an deiner Tür, weißt du?"
