Kaminski lag in dieser Nacht noch lange wach. Er dachte an das Gespräch mit Elena über seine Fortschritte und die neue Wohung und dann wieder an die Zeit, direkt nach dem Tod seiner Familie. Seine Helferinnen hatten das sicher auch nur alles mitgemacht, da sie Angst hatten, er würde irgendwann umkippen.

Elena wurde in der Nacht wach und merkte, dass er noch immer nicht schlief. Sanft streichelte sie ihm deshalb wortlos durchs Haar und ließ dann ihre Hand bei ihm liegen, um ihn zu beruhigen. Wenig später schlief sie selbst wieder.

Er beobachtete sie, als sie wieder schlief. Es war einfach erstaunlich, wie gut sie ihn kannte und er hatte nichts dagegen. Er hatte bisher nur eine Frau gekannt, bei der es ihm genauso gegangen war und diese hatte er geheiratet.

Auch Kaminski war schließlich irgendwann eingeschlafen und wurde erst mit dem Läuten ihres Weckers wieder wach.
