Kathleen musste leicht schmunzeln und streichelte ihr noch kurz durchs Haar, ehe sie wirklich vor die Tür ging und sich in der Sitzecke den Salat schmecken ließ.

Ryan war bereits bei seiner dritten Zigarette angekommen. Was hatte er sich nur dabei gedacht? Er hätte einfach gehen und seine Fasade aufrecht erhalten sollen. Ja, ihm tat Amy unwahrscheinlich leid und er würde sich freuen, ihr helfen zu können, aber sie hatte Ärzte und diese kümmerten sich um sie. Was wollte er schon tun? Er hatte schon ewig schon nicht mehr operiert und konnte das auch nicht mehr.

Schließlich machte Kathleen sich auf den Heimweg, damit sie Amy am nächsten Tag zumindest sagen konnte, dass sie in ihrem Bett gelegen hatte.
