Kaminski wollte zunächst widersprchen, doch er hatte keine Lust auf eine Diskussion und musste sich eingestehen, dass das Angebot verlockend war.

Kaminski schloß die Augen und dachte an die letzte Chemo. Die Nebenwirkungen, die Träume, wie er kaum noch selbst laufen konnte...aber das schlimmste war für ihn immer noch, wie Elena sich für ihn kaputt machte.

Es dauerte nicht lange bis Jack eingeschlafen war. Kaminski hatte zwar immer noch die gleichen Gedanken, doch er merkte, dass es ihm gut tat zu liegen und die Augen einfach geschlossen zu halten.

Kaminski öffnete seine Augen und starrte an die Decke. Es war unheimlich, als könnte sie seine Gedanken lesen. Schließlich hätte er auch schon schlafen können oder an seine verstorbene Familie denken können.
Zudem verstand er nicht, wie sie sich da so sicher sein konnte. Vielleicht war gerade das sein Problem, dass er erst eine Chemo hinter sich hatte.
