"Ja, warum nicht", meinte er leise und gleichgültig, ohne die Augen zu öffnen. Der Weg nach nebenan hatte ihn noch die letzte Kraft gekostet und er hatte wahnsinnige Schmerzen. Er wünschte, es wäre zumindest nicht umsonst gewesen.

Jacks ganzer Körper zitterte vor Überanstrengung, doch er gab sich Mühe, sie dennoch anzusehen. "Eine Garantie? Ich bin der Meinung, dass ich dich oder jemand anderen nicht verdient habe, nach wie vor. Aber du weißt hoffentlich, was du tust, also muss mir das genügen. Und ich vertraue dir", flüsterte er.
