Jack machte sich zunächst im Bad etwas frisch und zog sich dann ein anderes Hemd an, da das alte von der Nacht, die er darin verbracht hatte, völlig zerknittert war.
Dann machte er sich in der Küche zu schaffen. Wenn auch alles etwas länger dauerte, er konnte beinahe alles vorbereiten. Nur an den Schrank mit den Tassen kam er nicht heran.
Während er für sich und die Mädchen den Tisch gedeckt hatte, hatte er für Liz ein Tablett zurecht gemacht.
Als er fertig war, kehrte er mit einer Schüssel Wasser auf den Knien wieder ins Wohnzimmer zurück, wo er der jungen Frau vorsichtig einen kühlen Umschlag für den Kopf machte.
