Chase schloss die Augen, während sie sprach und hörte ihr aufmerksam zu. Er liebte es, wenn sie so erzählte, liebte ihre Stimme, die Freude darin und das Entzücken, wenn sie von besonders schönen Momenten sprach. Wieder einmal wurde ihm bewusst, wie sehr er sie brauchte.

Als sie bei ihren Erzählungen schon bei dem Teil angekommen war, an dem sie mit Anna im Arm vor dem Kinderzimmer stand, das House eingerichtet hatte, wurde sie immer langsamer und schlief schließlich einfach unterm Satz ein.

Als Remy eingeschlafen war, öffnete Chase noch einmal kurz die Augen und sah sie liebevoll an, dann zog der die Decke noch ein Stück höher über sie, legte den Arm wieder um ihren Körper und schlief dann auch bald an ihrer Seite ein.

So wie Remy ging es auch Chase und House. Sie schliefen alle drei die Nacht ruhig durch, House wachte jedoch im Gegensatz zu Chase schon früh wieder auf, da die Schmerzen ihn nicht länger schlafen ließen. In Gedanken redete er sich ein, dass es nur noch 24 Stunden dauerte, bis er heim konnte... Und dass eine Stunde lang war, folgte gleich als nächster Gedanke.
