Liz wusste, sie sollte aufstehen, doch sie konnte es nicht. Sie brachte es einfach nicht übers Herz. Besonders nicht nach seiner Bitte. Wie sollte sie sich jetzt aus seinen Armen lösen? Es fühlte sich doch auch für sie so gut an.

Sanft streichelte Jack mit seinen Händen über Liz' Rücken und zog beiläufig die Decke weiter über sie, ehe er mit ihr im Arm fest einschlief.

Die ersten, die wach wurden, waren House und Isobel, als die frisch Operierte in aller Frühe vom Aufwachraum auf die Intensivstation verlegt wurde.

Isobel nickte nur. Sofort nach den Aufwachen hatte sie versucht ihre Füße zu bewegen. Sie hatte immer noch keinen Erfolg dabei und spürte nicht mal die Decke auf den Beinen.

Als sie wieder allein waren, küsste House Isobel und streichelte ihr dann über den Arm. "Guten Morgen erstmal", lächelte er sie an, doch auf seiner Stirn waren Falten. Jetzt ging wieder die Zeit los, in der Isobel wahnsinnige postoperative Schmerzen hatte.
