Kathleen hatte Chase nicht angerufen, da Amy es nicht gewollt hatte.
So passte das Bild vor ihm auch überhaupt nicht mit der Vorstellung, wie es Amy heute gehen sollte, zusammen. Als er sah, wie man ihren Arm auf ein Kissen gelegt hatte, damit er nicht herunter hing, dachte er, den Boden unter den Füßen verlieren zu müssen. Er sah ihr lange in die Augen, sagte aber keinen Ton, da die Mädchen dabei waren. "Hallo, Amy", kam es nach einer Weile ebenfalls ganz sanft von ihm.

Als Amy die Reaktion von Chase sah, zog sich alles in ihr zusammen.
"Wie war die Schule, Anna?", wollte Amy wissen und erhielt wie meist eine kurze Antwort.
Danach erkundigte sich Amy bei Lisa nach dem Kindergarten und konnte so einige Minuten einfach nur zuhören.

Chase nahm neben seinen Mädchen Platz und küsste Amy sanft auf den Kopf, während er seine Finger mit ihren verschränkte und Lisa ebenfalls lauschte.

Chase lächelte, als er die drei erneut so zusammen erlebte und wusste automatisch, dass der Enthusiasmus der Mädchen Amy einfach wieder auf die Beine bekommen musste.
