Die beiden saßen an diesem Abend noch lange bis in die Nacht hinein auf dem Sofa.
Chase war nur beruhigt, da ihn kein Anruf aus dem Krankenhaus ereilte.
In der folgenden Woche hatte Kathleen noch mehrfach Bestrahlungen, doch diesmal legte Ryan seine Physiotermine stets so, dass er in dieser Zeit bei ihr sein konnte.
Jack ging es täglich besser, weshalb er auch wieder immer mehr Zeit bei Liz verbrachte. Zwar erholte ihr geschwächter Körper sich langsam von der zuvor fehlenden Herzleistung, doch die Sedierung wurde erst eine Woche nach der OP abgesetzt.
Nun wurde sie bereits über Stunden hinweg immer wacher, während Jack über sie wachte. Die Entwöhnung von der Beatmung war trotz ihrer vorgeschädigten Lunge glücklicherweise einigermaßen komplikationslos verlaufen.
