Erst jetzt bemerkte er, dass er die Luft schon eine ganze Weile angehalten hatte.
Ryan versuchte ihr Tun einfach zu genießen. Doch er konnte die Ereignisse des Tages einfach nicht vergessen. Er hatte ihrer Zwillingsschwester heute ein Bein abgenommen. Beide sagten, dass es nicht seine Schuld war, dass es so weit gekommen war. Doch was, wenn Komplikationen auftraten und sie ihre Meinung änderten? Was wenn Kathleen´s Schmerzen wieder schlimmer wurden und er ihr nicht mehr helfen konnte?

Er nickte, ägerte sich über sich selbst und seine Gedanken, die er einfach nie völlig verdrängen konnte und sah zur Decke.

Kathleen fühlte sich wahnsinnig wohl in seinen Armen und war deshalb kurz darauf eingeschlafen.

Nach einiger Zeit stand Ryan ganz langsam und vorsichtig auf und verließ kurz darauf die Wohnung. Vorsorglich hatte er einen Zettel hinterlassen, auf dem stand, dass mit Amy alles in Ordnung war.

Nach ein paar Stunden kam Ryan zurück, zog sich um und ging noch eine Runde joggen.

Kathleen wurde in der Nacht nur kurz wach. Sie dachte, er wollte möglicherweise nicht bei ihr schlafen und war deshalb aufs Sofa umgezogen, weshalb sie sich einfach auf die andere Seite drehte und weiter schlief.

Als Ryan schließlich heim gekommen war, hatte er sich geduscht und war kurz darauf auf dem Sofa eingeschlafen. Nachdem er den Frühstückstisch gedeckt hatte, hatte er sich auf den Weg zum Friedhof gemacht. Mit frischen Gebäck kehrte er dann nach Hause zurück.
Amy schlief immer noch tief und fest. Ryan hatte die Schwestern gebeten, sie bis zu seiner Ankunft einfach in Ruhe zu lassen.
