Es gibt ja immer noch die Behauptung das House in NO drehen will

James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie, Jim Broadbent, Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton, and Ashley Jensen, have joined the voice cast of the 3D, CG-animated family comedy, Arthur Christmas. The film, produced by Aardman Animations for Sony Pictures Animation, is slated for release November 23, 2011.

Set on Christmas night, the story of Arthur Christmas at last reveals the incredible, never-before seen answer to every child's question: 'So how does Santa deliver all those presents in one night?' The answer: Santa's exhilarating, ultra-high-tech operation hidden beneath the North Pole. But at the heart of the film is a story with the ingredients of a Christmas classic – a family in a state of comic dysfunction and an unlikely hero, Arthur, with an urgent mission that must be completed before Christmas morning dawns.

McAvoy leads the cast as Arthur, the good-natured but clumsy younger son of Santa. Arthur LOVES everything to do with Christmas; indeed, he is the only one in his family still captivated by the magic of the holiday. Laurie will play Arthur's older brother Steve, heir to the reins, a cool, incredibly capable guy who has given the North Pole high-tech efficiency, military-style precision. Broadbent plays Santa, who pictures himself as the guy in charge at the North Pole, but is now more of a figurehead as the operation has outgrown him. Nighy plays Santa's 136-year-old father, Grandsanta, a cranky old codger who hates the modern world, is always grumbling that Christmas 'was better when I was Santa' and has a tense relationship with Steve, who he calls 'A postman with a spaceship.' Jensen will play Bryony, a lowly elf from the Giftwrap Battalion, with an eager-to-please attitude and an obsession with wrapping and bows. Imelda Staunton rounds out the cast as Mrs. Santa, dedicated wife and mother to her husband and sons.

The director of Arthur Christmas is Sarah Smith. The screenplay is by Peter Baynham and Sarah Smith. Barry Cook is Co-Director. Producer is Steve Pegram. Production Designer is Evgeni Tomov. Executive Producers are Carla Shelley, Peter Lord and David Sproxton. Michael Giacchino and Adam Cohen are the composers.

Commenting on the announcement, Smith said, "We are thrilled to have assembled such a phenomenal group of actors for 'Arthur Christmas.' Not only are they all terrifically funny, charming and characterful but they have also brought an emotional subtlety and depth that gives the film great heart."

Hier ist noch ein Artikel, sogar mit Foto :D

How does Santa deliver all those toys on his own? Sure, he has tremendous help from the wage slave labor camp he runs beyond the jurisdiction of the United Nations populated with emaciated elves that start working almost as soon as they are able to walk. This system has been accepted for years, but a new film is set to shatter the illusion of Santa delivering those gifts by himself, save for the reindeer he illegally keeps without permits to run his sleds.

In the new Aardman/Sony Pictures 3D CG film, “Arthur Christmas,” it’s revealed that Santa has two sons: the younger, Arthur, and the elder, Steve, who runs the elf labor camps with “military precision.” A voice cast has already been found: James McAvoy will play Arthur, Hugh Laurie will voice the older brother and they are joined by Jim Broadbent, Imelda Staunton and Bill Nighy.

Presumably Nighy or Broadbent will voice Santa and our hope is its the latter. Sarah Smith and Barry Cook are co-directing, with the supremely busy Michael Giacchino and Adam Cohen composing the score. Sony have set the film for a November 23, 2011 release.

House’ is no Charlie

LOS ANGELES—“I am no Charlie Sheen.” Hugh Laurie instantly realized that he had just written our column headline as soon as those words came out of his mouth.

“Oh, no,” said the actor who stars in the TV series “House.” “I’m sure Charlie Sheen is a delightful fellow. I wish him all the best.”

What made Hugh refer to Charlie, who was in the news recently for reportedly trashing his hotel room in a naked, drunken rage, which his publicist blamed on an allergic reaction to medication? Hugh, blessed with self-deprecating British wit, was asked in an interview at the Peninsula Hotel if he had a wild side. “I don’t think I have any sort of particular wildness,” he replied and then uttered our headline. Casually dressed, Hugh dropped by at the hotel for this chat before reporting to the set of his hit show.

So the guy who plays cynical, cantankerous Dr. Gregory House has never been caught nude and throwing tables and chairs around a hotel room? “No, I have not but a man can dream,” Hugh dished, his trademark bug eyes twinkling.

“On stage, I suppose I can get lost,” the actor-musician said. “In the moment of performing either music or when I’m acting, I can be overtaken by a slightly wilder side. I don’t get into fights or anything. I don’t trash the place. I’m fairly English and well behaved for the most part but then again, if I wasn’t, would I own up to it right now? I don’t know.”

Asked for his take on the words “Love Sucks” on the lollipop that he is holding in the poster for the new season of “House,” the Eton College and University of Cambridge-educated actor replied, “If they wanted to say ‘Love is Complicated,’ you couldn’t fit it on the lollipop. You’d need a much bigger lollipop than that.”
On his sex scenes in the series with Lisa Edelstein (Dr. Lisa Cuddy), Hugh said, “First of all, let me make it clear that I did not make out with Lisa. It was an arduous and rigorous piece of filming. It’s a difficult and awkward thing to represent physical affection on camera. I find it hard enough in real life but to do it in front of 200 people in jeans is very taxing. But fortunately, Lisa and I know each other very well. We’ve got on very well over the six or seven years that we’ve been doing this show.”

“This is a strange proposition for me to be assuming the role of a conventional leading man who gets the girl,” he admitted. “It’s not how I’ve ever pictured myself but somebody had to step up, so I did a couple of sit-ups and launched in. I think three. Fortunately, Lisa is very easy on the eye so we can focus more on her silky gorgeousness and avoid the crazy ogre that I represent.”
In “The Oranges,” moviegoers will focus on the “crazy ogre” and the “silky gorgeousness” of another actress. “The film is being edited right now,” Hugh said of his comedy-drama. “We shot it in the gap between last season and this season. It was a terrific script, really funny but touching story about a very inappropriate love affair between a 50-year-old man and a 20-year-old girl (Leighton Meester).”

“By the way, I play the 50-year-old man,” he deadpanned. “I hope that the audience will find it funny, touching and oddly, sort of tender and romantic. I am sure some people may go, ‘Oh, I don’t want to have anything to do with that.’”

Congratulated on “House” being declared as the most-watched TV show in the world, Hugh was characteristically candid. “I am completely baffled by it, bewildered,” he began. “There are certain things about ‘House’ that I could see are attractive — the fact that he’s a healer, for one. I see he’s a tortured character. There’s something romantic about him, I suppose. But at the same time, I think of the show as exceedingly verbal. It’s verbally a very dense show, idiomatic, with a lot of complicated use of words. I’m astonished that density translates so well into other languages. Fortunately, I don’t have to understand it. The more mysterious it is, the more wonderful it is, really.”

Next year will see the release of Hugh’s first album, a blues set with guests like Tom Jones, Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo and Dr. John, whom he idolizes. When Hugh revealed that he’s still thinking of a title for the CD and ideal venues for his concert tour, we suggested “House of Blues” and that he performs in, well, the House of Blues chain. He smiled and said he liked the idea.

“Music is one of my great loves,” admitted Hugh who has a daughter and two sons with Jo Green, his wife since 1989. “If I have a free hour or two, playing the piano is probably one of my favorite things to do. I hope my children have shared that. We’ve actually performed together as the Von Crap Family. That was our moniker. I delight in my own children’s musicality. There is nothing better than either playing with them or just sitting and listening to them play or sing.”

“I didn’t foresee any of this, that I’m sitting here declaiming about my life and work,” confessed the two-time Golden Globe winner. “If I were 18 and looking at myself now, I would probably fall about laughing. We tend to look at other people’s lives and assume that where they got to is the result of a carefully considered decision that was inevitable, but in actual fact, I suspect that most human lives are more chaotic, surprising and unplanned than any of us think.”

Hugh Laurie ‘fails to impress with cake for co-stars’
08/11/2010

Hugh Laurie thrilled his House co-stars by baking them a cake, although they were left unimpressed when they tasted it.

The British actor has played acerbic medical professional Dr. Gregory House in the US medical drama since 2004. He loves the role, and decided to show the cast and crew how much they meant to him recently by baking them a sweet treat.

“Everyone was like, ‘Oh, that’s so adorable... Look, he made it himself,’” a source explained.

However, on closer examination the stars begin to worry about tasting the cake. It was covered in almond paste which was badly applied, and seemed sunken and hard.

A few co-stars decided to try it anyway to avoid upsetting Hugh, but their grimaces and furrowed brows eventually left him in no doubt about his culinary skills.

“Hey, I know it looks and tastes like c**p,” he is quoted by National Enquirer as saying. “But it’s the thought that counts!”

(Crappy translation of a more poetic French title): “Far by the eyes, but close by the hearts” (basically, they are separated physically but not emotionally)

Hugh Laurie, who lives in Los Angeles, left Jo Green, his wife, and their three children, Rebecca (born in 1993), William (1991), and Charlie (1988), in Great Britain. “It was a decision that we made together. We were very attached to the great education in the UK. I’m not saying that the educational system in America is bad, but I did not feel an affinity with its methodology. You can’t uproot teenagers like that either. That hasn’t stopped us from Twittering, e-mailing, Facebooking, and Skyping; we are hyperpointus (?) in terms of communication.

In a promo picture, we see House holding a lollipop in the form of a heart, with the words “Love sucks” on it. Is this from experience?

Not as far as I’m concerned! House has his own theory of love. I have mine. I know that without the love of my wife and my family, I would be completely disorientated. Love, for me, has been a sort of GPS; it lets me have confidence in myself and less self-destructive tendencies. If it had been me, I would rather have written “Love is complicated”. But that’s not possible. It would have taken up too much space. It would have required a much larger lollipop, and thus my face would not have been visible. Or the words could have been written on my face, instead of the lollipop!

HUGH LAURIE’S WONDERING WHY ‘HOUSE’ IS AT HOME OVERSEAS
For seven seasons , Hugh Laurie has been the driving force behind Fox’s medical drama ”House.” While the show’s been a huge hit here in America, its appeal apparently knows no borders, because the show’s become popular in several other countried around the world. In typical Hugh Laurie fashion, he really can’t figure out an explanation for the show’s international success.
